Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) is calling out the Postal Service for increasing reports of delivery issues at the fledgling Atlanta Regional Processing and Distribution Center (RPDC). The Atlanta RPDC is one of the earliest of about 60 RPDCs planned as part of the major overhaul of the Postal Service processing, transportation and delivery network. But, in a recent letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, Ossoff noted heightened concerns about delays involving the Atlanta RPDC that have been reported in the press.
In his March 14 letter, Ossoff wrote that “Postal customers in Georgia are increasingly reporting untraceable or stalled packages to local news outlets, in some cases for up to weeks.” Ossoff is asking the Postmaster General to update him on the reported issues at the Atlanta RPDC in Palmetto, GA, including “what might be the source of delays, and what actions are being taken to remedy any determined issues.” In addition, he wants to know “How is USPS currently communicating with customers in the metro Atlanta area reporting delayed and lost packages”. He concluded by urging the Postmaster General to expeditiously investigate these reports and “take any necessary and appropriate actions to ameliorate any issues.”
